ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work embraces photography as both a means of communing with nature and as a medium of artistic self expression. I photograph natural arrangements and organic details. In so doing, I play with focus and framing---abstracting once recognizable forms and magnifying overlooked details. I then further abstract, rework, and reimagine the images through a process of digital editing in order to achieve highly personal images that actualize my own emotions and views of the natural subjects that I photograph. The end results are enigmatic, transcendent, and lush images that capture a distinctly feminine gaze upon the natural world and that push the boundaries of the medium towards painting and printmaking from which I draw inspiration. My photographs work well in pairs or groups.
